The Green Developer Speaker Series is back! You're invited to join us and three experts from KEMA Green Building Consultants for a lively discussion as they review the complexities, green attributes, rating system applications, and lessons learned from a variety of recent projects, including:
Elaine Hsieh is a Senior Green Building Consultant with KEMA’s Sustainable Buildings and Operations group based in Oakland. She also serves as the elected Chair of the Pacific Regional Council of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and a Board Emeritus of the Northern California Chapter (USGBC-NCC). An experienced business, team, and project manager with an engineering background and a broad understanding of the construction, biotechnology, education, retail, manufacturing, and finance industries, Ms. Hsieh has a keen ability to effectively communicate difficult concepts to people in diverse age groups, cultures, and business sectors. By working on over 15 green multifamily and mixed use residential projects within the group, Ms. Hsieh has gained in depth experience with GreenPoint Rating and LEED for Homes consulting. In addition, Ms Hsieh’s work includes managing large commercial LEED projects, research and writing, LEED advisory and documentation, and green building rating system development. Ms. Hsieh is a LEED Accredited Professional, a Certified Green Building Professional, and a Certified GreenPoint Rater. She holds a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering and an Masters in Engineering Management from Duke University.
Elizabeth Durney, LEED® AP, is a senior project manager and LEED consultant with KEMA’s Sustainable Buildings and Operations group based in Oakland. Ms. Durney manages LEED documentation and green building rating system and guidebook development projects, leading design and construction teams through the LEED process from the eco-charrette through final certification. By working on over 25 LEED projects, Ms. Durney has gained in depth experience with many LEED systems including LEED-NC, CS, CI, ND and EB. Ms. Durney teaches educational seminars on green building, climate change, and other LEED-related topics, is managing the update to the GreenPoint Multifamily Guidelines, GreenPoint for Existing Homes and Climate Calculator projects for StopWaste.Org and Build it Green. As a board member of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Redwood Empire Chapter and a member of the USGBC Pacific Regional Council, Ms. Durney is very involved in the USGBC chapter development and growth process. Ms Durney holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science from Macalester College, is a LEED A.P. and has been trained in the Green Point Rated system.
